| HOMETOWN:
Durango (moved here from Montrose in 1952 when I was five).
FAMILY:
Four fantastic kids: daughter Megan, 25, sons Meyers,
23, Elliot, 17 and Alexander, 14.
JOINED
THE WELLS GROUP: 1993, after closing my own real estate
brokerage of 11 years. (I couldn't resist the synergism
at The Wells Group - the "Best Marketing Team"
I've ever seen in real estate!
BEEN
THERE, DONE THAT: Graduated from Durango High School
in 1965 and Fort Lewis College in 1972. Worked for and
became co-director of the Purgatory Pro-ski Patrol from
1968 until 1977. I was put in charge of first aid after
being a member of the first E.M.T. class in La Plata
County. Obtained my real estate license and my first
subdivision approval in 1972.
THE
BEST PART OF MY JOB IS: Working with people and trying
my best to meet their needs. Accomplishing this is very
satisfying.
PRIZED
POSSESSION: The "Stephen H. Hart" Award from
the Colorado Historical Society, received in 1986 in
recognition of 'outstanding achievement in preserving
Colorado's cultural heritage.' My wife and I did a Certified
Historical Renovation on the Old Main Post Office Building
on the corner of 11th and Main here in Durango.
ONE
OF THE THINGS I KEPT FROM MY CHILDHOOD: My love of the
outdoors, thanks to my wonderful parents and my fantastic
ski coach, Dolph Kuss, who took me on pack trips and
back packing all over the San Juan Mountains.
YES,
I HAD MY 15 MINUTES OF FAME WHEN: I took third place
in the U.S. Junior Nationals in cross country ski racing
in 1965. I have always been thankful that the local
newspaper, The Durango Herald, wasn't there to take
my picture at the finish line that day. I looked like
I had been through a washing machine cycle!
IF
I DIDN'T WORK FOR A LIVING I WOULD: Explore the world!
However, my family says nothing will get me out of this
valley. I really do love it here!
THE
ONE GUILTY PLEASURE I ALLOW MYSELF IS: Camping whenever
I can.
I
LIKE TO BE INVOLVED IN MY COMMUNITY BY DOING: Scouting
activities. I have been chairman of the committee for
Cub Scout Pack 502 for 11 years. I have to confess that
we have the best pack in the whole world, thanks to
many great parents and boys.
BEST
CUSTOMER SERVICE I OFFER: Over thirty years in all aspects
of local real estate experience, ranging from land and
water to development, commercial, ranch and residential
listings and sales.
BEST
ADVICE ANYONE EVER GAVE ME: "Always do your best
and never give up" (Mom).
